Every Home Has A Story... Here's Ours:

'Ex Malo Bonum'. Out of bad comes good.
Good things often come out of bad experiences. In 2008, a fall from the roof resulted in a shattered right ankle and 4 operations. I spent over 8 months in a wheelchair and on crutches before I could begin taking a few steps again. Prior to this time, I had never intended or planned to rent our home. What emerged from a serious accident was an awareness of how fragile, or how short, life can be. I knew it was time to reinvent myself and start a new chapter.
One of my favorite movie quotes comes from Field of Dreams: "If you build it, they will come".
In 2010, my son volunteered to build a website about our home, and once it went live, what followedbecame one of life's unexpected gifts. Wonderful and fascinating people from every corner of the world began arriving.
They shared personal stories of how and why they were drawn to travel here. Some stories made us smile, others were heartwarming, while a few were heartbreaking. Many would find peace and relaxation here, others would take time to rejuvenate or heal, and countless visitors would find what they were searching for... time and creating memories with the people they love.

And somewhere in all of it, I would find something, too... A sense of purpose.

When I think back to my words, "Someday I will build you a castle", I sometimes wonder why I said 'castle'.
I've always felt that somehow there was a plan and a purpose for all of it. I believe it wasn't
just my plan.
“The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.” (Proverbs 16:9)
